55,000 people, 15 bands and 12 hours of music? Oh yea, Im in! That's what you get when you partake in Rockfest in Kansas City! I have been to Rockfest for the last 10 years and absolutely love this event! The last couple of years have been wet and cold so it added to my excitement to see the forecast of sunny and 70's. With the weather finally being great it was nice to see the lineup was just as good!

Volbeat hails from Copenhagen, Denmark and has created a style like no other main stream band. Their style is a blended mix of Johnny Cash, Elvis and Metallica with a heavy influence of metal and rockabilly. With half a dozen albums as well as a couple DVD's under their belt, Volbeat has proved themselves to be a rock force to be reckoned with. They have several chart topping hits including "A Warriors Call," that was the intro for NFL games.

Volbeat

Volbeat is formed around the lyrics and vocals of frontman Michael Poulsen. With a captivating stage presence, Poulsen commands the microphone delivering a live performance worthy of a studio recording. I must disclose that Volbeat is currently on the list of my favorite bands due to their creative adaptation of Rockabilly into a heavier sound, I love Rockabilly and I love Volbeat's idea of what it should sound like. Photographing their set at Rockfest marked my third time in twelve months being in the crowd at a Volbeat show. I totally went away looking even more forward the the next time I get to be in the crowd!
