55,000 people, 15 bands and 12 hours of music? Oh yea, I'm in! That's what you get when you partake in Rockfest in Kansas City! I have been to Rockfest for the last 10 years and absolutely love this event! The last couple of years have been wet and cold so it added to my excitement to see the forecast of sunny and 70's. With the weather finally being great it was nice to see the lineup was just as good!
Halestorm is one of those bands that have everything going for them. They have quality songs that are getting daily national airplay and attractive band members. They are touring more than most bands and have a lead singer that can belt the lyrics out of the park! Halestorm is a family affair being formed by two musically talented siblings, Arejay Hale and Elizibeth "Lzzy" Hale, with their dad, Roger Hale, doing a brief stint in the band handling the bass.
After seeing Halestorm numerous times it was no surprise that they sounded great as usual! I love Lzzy's on stage persona; she has powerhouse vocals and is an extremely energetic front woman. Arejay came onstage with a crazy marching band outfit that was colorful and managed to rock the drums while wearing it, as hot as that had to be. Rounding out the band is Joe Hottinger, on lead guitar and vocals as well as Josh Smith, on the bass making a very tight and great sounding band. Without a doubt I will see Halestorm again in the future but it's my guess that they will be the headliner at one of the future Rockfest shows!
